Bring The Road to Becoming Me to Your Book Club

A memoir in essays about becoming, healing, truth, freedom, and learning to choose yourself.

More Than a Book Discussion

The Road to Becoming Me is a collection of stories from my life—the messy ones, the joyful ones, the ones I spent years trying to make sense of, and the ones that helped me become the woman I am today.

But I don't believe our stories are meant to end with us.

My hope is that this book opens conversations. The kind where someone says, “Oh my gosh, me too.” The kind where we laugh, maybe cry a little, and start talking about our own roads to becoming.

If your book club chooses The Road to Becoming Me, I'd love to be part of that conversation.

Invite Me to Join Your Book Club

One of my favorite things about sharing The Road to Becoming Me is getting to talk with the people who read it.

If your group chooses my book, I would love to join your discussion—virtually from wherever you are, or in person when location and travel allow.

There is no speaking fee for book clubs reading The Road to Becoming Me. I simply want to be part of the conversation.

  • A relaxed, honest conversation about the book

  • Behind-the-scenes stories and the writing of The Road to Becoming Me

  • Q&A with me—ask me anything about the stories, writing, becoming, or what happened next

  • Conversation about the stories the book brought up for you

  • Plenty of laughter, connection, and probably a few side stories because...well, you've met me. 😂

Start the Conversation

Every story in The Road to Becoming Me is an invitation to think about our own stories a little differently. These questions can help get your book club conversation started.

  • Which story stayed with you the longest after you finished reading it—and why?

  • Was there a moment when you found yourself thinking, “Me too”?

  • What does “becoming” mean to you at this point in your own life?

  • Debbie writes openly about changing her mind, changing her life, and letting go of versions of herself that no longer fit. Where have you experienced that in your own life?

  • If you could sit down with Debbie after reading the book, what would you want to ask her?

And yes, if I join your book club, you can absolutely ask me #5. ❤️

About the Book

The Road to Becoming Me is a memoir in essays about the stories we carry, the things we survive, the choices we make, and the who we become along the way.

Through stories of childhood, family, motherhood, marriage, weight loss, freedom from alcohol, career, friendship, grief, joy, and starting over, I share my life as it really happened—not because I have all the answers, but because I spent a lot of years believing I was the only one.

I wasn't. And neither are you.

Reading The Road to Becoming Me with your book club? I'd love to hear from you. Tell me a little about your group and when you're hoping to meet, and we'll see what we can make happen.
